Soon, the world will be TRULY wired! Hundreds of millions of people will be able to talk and interact with friends or colleagues in virtual reality mode. The meaning of "let's take a meeting" will change -- perhaps even the meaning of "let's get together at my place" will change. For some, there will be little difference between real life and virtual life (at least we would like to believe so). For others, upward social mobility may come to depend on -- or be limited by -- Net access.

In other words, Cyberspace will become as real as Outer Space! It will be infinite. It will grow at its own pace, with its own rules, and push the human imagination beyond present limits.

Society, governments, commerce, religion, and our way of life itself will need to build or accommodate new institutions -- structures that to the computer illiterate may seem to resemble a far-out, science fiction realm.
